OLIVER HEYLIGER is a financial services industry professional with 40+ years experience in several sectors and disciplines with a primary focus on institutional insurance. He has held operating and management roles in various areas of insurance and risk management including accounting, underwriting, broking, claims handling, captive management and executive management. His experience includes the property/casualty and life sides of the insurance and reinsurance business including ILS and other structured financial products. He has formed and managed numerous captives and commercial insurers and has been involved in the financial rating process for a number of those companies. He has also managed complex issues with insurers in run off.
He has had significant board participations on both commercial and captive insurers and has acted as Principal Representative for several companies. He is well versed in governance and compliance issues and is known in the Bermuda insurance industry for his training and mentoring efforts. Oliver’s external achievements include, President of the Bermuda Insurance Management Association, Board participation with the Bermuda Insurance Institute, Founding Member of the Bermuda Insurance Mentor Group, and Deputy Chair of the Bermuda High School for Girls.
Oliver has a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Trent University in Ontario, Canada, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is an Associate of the U.K. Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and Chartered Insurance Practitioner (CIP). Oliver is a Director of CGP and leads The Highgate Group, Ltd (THG) – CGP’s affiliate in Bermuda – efforts as it relates to risk management and insurance requirements. He also plays a significant role in the firm’s advisory business and procurement needs for client projects.
