PROF. PETER SHARRATT

Prof. Peter Sharratt is a director of CGP and works directly with Marlon shaping investment value propositions, building cohesive multi-lateral delivery partnerships and implementation planning for economic infrastructure and urban development solutions for clients.

Peter is a recognized leader in sustainable development with over thirty years international experience operating at a senior level in blue chip management, technical and design consultancies, including WSP and Deloitte. He has a proven track record in developing business growth and service innovation strategies and delivering economic infrastructure solutions to investors, business, developers, cities, and governments. Peter’s experience in Africa includes roles as special advisor to the Ashanti Investment Trust for the West Ghana economic transformation corridor, special advisor to a leading management consultancy on the National Industrialization and Urbanization program for the Government of Ethiopia, and lead role in the Soweto Urban Transformation masterplan. He has worked with a range of project promoters, developers and investors from both public and private sectors including sovereign wealth funds, donor agencies and banks, developing the early stage strategic and business cases, shaping the delivery frameworks and enabling programs, facilitating stakeholder engagement, building delivery partnerships and defining project requirements. Representative Project experience include:

  • Low Carbon Transition Strategies for global cities including Shanghai, Jakarta, Dubai, Helsinki
  • Strategic Infrastructure Planning leadership team for Dubai’s Urban Framework Plan
  • Policy and Regulatory Development: Lead in developing Dubai’s national Green Building Regulatory System and Codes: As advisory board member to the China US Centre for Sustainable Development, acted as the technical and strategy lead for new sustainable urban infrastructure solutions to China’s second cities based on the principles of the circular economy. Working with the Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC’s city administrations and international businesses. The mission was to help transition China towards a circular economy and was focused on urban and rural planning.
  • Sector Transformation Global Aviation: Devised and led Airport Carbon Accreditation, a low carbon transition program for global airports in conjunction with the European Airport Federation, ACI. Currently over 35% global aviation traffic passes through an ACA certified airport.
  • Carbon Finance: extensive early market technical DD support to early CDM carbon finance projects in China and India.
  • Sustainable Tourism: Advisor to the government of Malta and the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation.

He is an innovator focused on creating and delivering tangible benefits to stakeholders. He is an effective communicator and has advised conference programs such as the World Future Energy Summit, Abu Dhabi, as well as being a key-note speaker to numerous international conferences and events. He combines professional practice with his academic interests as Professor of Industry & Professional Practice at the University of Westminster (part time), appointed to build engagement and collaboration between academia, government and industry with a specific focus on academic enterprise and research partnerships and building market & societal impact.
